CHALLENGES YOU FACE

Educational institutions are not providing training

on the tools you will need to run your business.

Working in today’s fast-paced, high intensity business environment is challenging for everyone.  There is always something new to learn or someone else that wants to take your job.  How do you compete?  Likely, you strive to set yourself apart by your skill-set, knowledge, and ability.  You may even have received higher education.  Typically, this schooling taught the fundamentals of the line of business you are in.  What did NOT happen?  Usually, educational institutions are not providing training on the tools you will need to run your business.  Granted, there may be some high-level courses in business administration or accounting.  But when your business actually starts, or you get a specific career, you quickly learn that you are asked to use tools that you have never really been trained to use.

So you probably did what every other person has done…just try and get through it.  Take working with Excel.  You can quickly figure out how to enter some data into cells and even format the tab so that it looks nice and colorful.  You even discover how to use the SUM function.  Most likely, someone else showed you how to do all of that.  And then you ask the question almost everyone else does, “Wouldn’t it be neat if Excel could….?”

“Wouldn’t it be neat if Excel could….?”
Do you really have the time to invest in just learning a program like Excel?

And then you start to dig. You look things up in Excel’s help. You start looking at the web. You find page after page that describes how you could accomplish certain tasks. And then there are the YouTube videos. Oh, they are all very instructional. But do you really have the time to watch a 10-minute video about using VLOOKUP formulas only to determine that is not what you need? Trying to customize and learn Excel is time consuming. Learning the basics and even some advance formulas are beneficial. But you are at work or running your own business.

So what should you do? After you get your data or spreadsheet looking as close as possible to the way you want it. Get some professional help. You already do this when it comes to accounting or legal requirements. You let the professionals handle it so you can concentrate on doing your job.
